The story

Why we built this

Your browser is watching you. Every site you visit, every search you make, every article you read — it's being recorded, sold, and used to build a profile of who you are. Not by hackers. By the companies whose services you use every day.

Ad networks follow you across thousands of websites. Your internet provider can see every domain you visit. Even "private mode" doesn't actually make you private — it just forgets your history on your own device.

"We just wanted to read the news without being followed around the internet for the next two weeks by an ad for something we glanced at once."

So we built Eirene. A clean room you walk into when you need one. Your voice opens the door. No passwords to forget. No accounts to create. No company holding your data. When you leave and lock the door — it never happened.

It runs on your own computer. Your browsing goes through your own tunnel. We never see it. Nobody does.

It's free. It's open source. It always will be.

🛠️

Install once

One command on your home computer. Eirene sets up everything — the tunnel, the proxy, the voice server. Takes about two minutes.

🎙️

Record your voice

Say your passphrase three times. That's your key. No passwords. No accounts. No one else can open your room.

🚪

Open when needed

Browse normally all day. When you want privacy, open a new tab, go to your Eirene address, and speak. The room opens.

🔒

Lock when done

Tap Lock. Your session is wiped. Cache cleared. Tokens gone. The room never existed.

🚫

No ads

Over 100 ad networks blocked at the tunnel level — before they ever reach your screen. Not hidden, not filtered. Gone.

👁️

No trackers

Tracking pixels stripped. Identifying parameters removed from URLs. The invisible surveillance layer — peeled off.

🔐

Private DNS

Every domain lookup goes through encrypted DNS. Your internet provider can't see what sites you visit. Neither can anyone on your network.

🎙️

Voice authentication

Your voiceprint is your key. Stored on your machine. Never uploaded. Nobody else can open your room — not even us.

🏠

Self-hosted

Eirene runs on your hardware. Your data flows through your tunnel. We have no servers in the middle. There's nothing to subpoena.

🌐

Full web access

Browse any website, click any link, navigate freely. The whole web — just without the surveillance layer on top.

🧅

Tor mode

For when you need more than just ad-free. One tap routes all your traffic through the Tor network — multiple encrypted hops across the globe.

Websites see a Tor exit node. Not you. Not your city. Not your country. Nothing.

It's slower — Tor always is. But sometimes that's the right tradeoff. You decide, tap by tap.

Eirene runs on hardware you already own. No monthly fees. No cloud subscriptions. Just your computer and a domain name.

One command

  1. 1 Install Docker
  2. 2 Open a terminal
  3. 3 Run this command:
curl -sSL https://eirene.run.place/setup -o setup.sh && bash setup.sh click to copy

Free. Forever.

Eirene is open source. The code is on GitHub. Anyone can read it, audit it, improve it, or run it.

We will never charge for Eirene. No premium tier. No "free with limits." No advertising. No selling your data — we don't have your data.

Privacy shouldn't be a luxury. It should be something anyone can have, on hardware they already own, with software they can inspect.

That's what Eirene is. That's what it will always be.
